The Best of the Web -- Here's where you can find the best of the web's resources for texturing your site. These are the best sites that offer free or inexpensive textures you can use, sites that offer tutorials and how-to's on developing great textures, and some places to go to read some articles about texturing.

Places to Find Textures

istockphoto -- This is a great place for finding an enourmous number of textures. It has an easy-to-use interface. The only downside is that these are fee-based, but inexpensive.
Lost and Taken -- This is a blog that offers a number of great free textures, as well as commentary.
Free Textures.org -- Lots of free photographic textures here, including grunge, seamless, and nature.
Free-textures.org -- You have to dig down into the categories to see all the photographic textures here. Lots of free photographic textures.
Image After -- Free textures include walls, roofs,
grunge, and techno.

Texturise -- This is a blog with lots of free textures, including fabric, plants, paper, and water.
CG Textures -- A great site with a search box and logically categorized textures.
Fbrushes -- Another blog site with great free textures.
Grunge Textures -- A nice collection of distressed surfaces

Texture Generators

GR Sites -- This offers a free "texture-maker", in addition to a gallery, sound effects, and fonts.

Texture Maker from download.com -- This is free to try, or $85 for purchase. This software package allows you to generate and draw seamless textures from scratch and convert any image into a seamless tile, by feeding the program with a small cutout to have it compute large seamless textures.

NewTutorials.com -- A site that offers tutorials on creating your own textures using Photoshop.
Vandelay Design -- A few great tutorials on texturing using Photoshop.
Photoshop Lady -- A collection of tutorials on how to use Photoshop for texture and patterns.
